Aigaia School of Art & Design, Cyprus - THE BUILDING





Aigaia School of Art and Design created a unique art school space in a 1922 building in the Agioi Omologites area, in Nicosia, combining traditional with contemporary architecture. Aigaia’s purpose built premises are equipped with all the appropriate workshops and working spaces to enable the teaching of all the subjects of art and design. The building accommodates specialized workshops, a library, a computer lab, exhibition and performance spaces, staff room, cafeteria as well as facilities for students with special needs.

Through studio-based learning, which is the most efficient art and design teaching method, students will develop their skills, their ability to research, experiment and to generate creative ideas and results.

Library Opening Hours
The Library is open from Monday to Friday from 9 o'clock in the morning until 6 o'clock in the evening and on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

The purpose of the library is to help, encourage and stimulate our students in the different fields of art and design. A variety of sections help them to find information and update their knowledge in order to perform their maximum in their projects. The Library is a reading space for staff and students to study.


With over 800 books covering a wide range of art, design and media subjects, literature, encyclopedias, archaeology, theatre.

Large collection of audiovisual material. 
CDs: traditional and contemporary music CDs and sound effects CDs are kept behind the Counter 
DVDs and videos: a large collection of feature films, animation and documentaries about art and the lives of famous artists.

gallery space

Aigaia Art Gallery Space is located on the entrance of the school. The traditional lobby of the building is used as an exhibition space and throughout the year numerous exhibitions are hosted there, including exhibitions of teaching artists and designers of the academic team. All artwork is available for sale.


theatre space



“Aigaia Theatre Space”- harmoniously integrated within the building of the School of Art & design – with main design features of versatility and flexibility in the arrangement of seats and the stage. It is equipped with the necessary performance equipment (light - sound - projector) and a normal arrangement of the space accommodates approximately 70 seats. 

These provide unique possibilities of different arrangements of the layout of the space depending on the requirements of each event. The space is ideal for plays, theatrical performances, rehearsals, art exhibitions, poetry workshops, various presentations, corporate events, lectures, seminars etc.  

archaeological site

The ancient burial place that was discovered in the premises of Aigaia, is dated back to the Hellenistic period 400bc. The burial place/cave is now restored and plays a very important role, being the strong foundation of the Greek culture that inspires the school in fulfilling its mission.
